A little etymology for you

WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF CONNUBIAL?

Connubial β€œof marriage or wedlock” derives from Latin cōnΕ«biālis, from cōnΕ«biumβ€œwedding,” plus the adjective-forming suffix -ālis. CōnΕ«bium, in turn, is a compound of com-β€œtogether, with” and nΕ«bere β€œto wed,” and nΕ«bere (stem nupt-) is the source of marriage-related words such as nubile, nuptial, and prenup. NΕ«bere is of obscure origin, but one theory is that its original definition was β€œto cover oneself with a veil,” which would suggest a derivation from nΕ«bΔ“s β€œcloud.”
